At a press conference on Tuesday, Abbot described the whole shooting incident. According to him, Salvador Ramos, an 18-year-old gunman, was carrying a lethal weapon, most likely a rifle. He parked his car at Uvalde Elementary School and carried the gun. It was a small town with approximately 16,000 residents, located 85 miles from the nearest major city.

The school is located in San Antonio’s Morning West. Abbott said that cops have stated that they assassinated this suspect. The gunman was also a student at a nearby high school, they said. Pete Arredondo was the Police Chief at Uvald Integrated Independent Schools District. He released a statement Tuesday in which he stated, “The suspect acted alone in an unacceptable and lethal crime.”

CCTV footage helped identify his face. The footage shows him in a black dress, approaching the elementary school with at least one rifle. The suspect was seen driving a black SUV close to the school before he committed the crime. Police are looking for more information on him, and have searched his house and collected information about his family. This is the deadliest mass shooting at an elementary school in America.
